- Painted maple cabinets vs laminated wood cabinets?
- Lazy susan with trash, compost and recycle cans or use it for storage? The trash & recycles would then be in a cabinet by the sink.
- Farm sink too much?
- Stainless or white sink?
- Dark or light counters? Lisa brought up a good point, would a dark counter suck the light out of the room?
- Hutch with a counter section or not? Here are the designs and the inspiration pictures:

Hi again - I added most of my comments to your very first post, but here are some more thoughts:
ReplyDelete1. Light counters show all the dirt, but conversely, it's very difficult with my dark counters to FIND the dirt to clean up! I don't think dark counters suck light out of a room, but it might be different in your space. Trena also has dark counters and they work very well in her kitchen.
2. Try to plan as much as possible to avoid putting anything on the floor or counters that can be put into a cabinet or drawer.
3. I highly recommend flat face cabinets for ease of cleaning. If you get ones with grooved designs (like in some of the inspiration pictures), they capture a lot of grease and gunk over time.
4. Not a big fan of glass or transparent cabinets - especially in smaller kitchens where you can't afford to give up storage space for pretty displays.
Refrigerator - are you getting a new one? The new french door models provide more space for wider things for both fridge and freezer.
